John 16:4b-7 – The fact that Jesus going to heaven is better than him staying gives us the benchmark for our experience of the Spirit
John 15:17-16:4a – Having described the New Covenant life, Jesus begins to explain one of the reasons why love within the Church is so important: the world will hate Christians.
Matthew 4:1-11 – As Christians we are called to battle against evil, to know our enemies and to know what is at stake when we are tempted, when we surrender and when we overcome.
John 15:12-17 – At the heart of New Covenant life is understanding, obedience and fellowship – together these make a temple where the Holy Spirit dwells and makes known the glory of God.
John 15:1-12 – Christians bear fruit through union with Christ. The Father prunes our fruitfulness for growth and disciplines our outright disobedience. Our job is to remain in Christ by loving one another as he has loved us.
John 15:10-23 – As we know Christ and grow in conformity to him, the Spirit makes known the Father to us by communicating his love to us more and more. So it is that we come to share ever more deeply in the Son’s relationship with the Father in the Spirit.
In his work of uniting us with God, the Holy Spirit manifests Christ to us: His person, work and Word.
An overview of the work of the Holy Spirit who brings us into union with God while sustaining our freedom and who teaches us how to obey Christ.
The Holy Spirit brings us the wonderful blessing of the New Covenant Life. The condition for his presence and power is obedience to Christ’s New Covenant command.
The New Covenant life means we can begin to experience the life of Heaven now. How? Jesus says “I AM the Way”.
